The ISCT ANZ Regional Meeting was held in Lorne, Australia from November 9-11 in association with the Australasian Society for Stem Cell Research (ASSCR) and Stem Cells Australia (SCA). The theme to “narrow the gap between stem cell research and cellular therapy” focused interest in translational technologies that may enable cost-effective delivery of novel stem cell based therapies. Around 300 delegates including ISCT and ASSCR members, over 60 students and early career delegates as well as representatives from academia, industry and regulators attended the conference. Opening addresses were delivered by ISCT President Professor Massimo Dominici and former President of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine, Professor Alan Trounson. ISCT and ASSCR share common interests in cell manufacturing process development, delivery of autologous versus third party cellular therapies, and the regulation of unproven cellular therapies. These conference themes provided the common ground for delegates to develop collaborative relationships.
