Overview

This two day conference and the optional half day technology session on Quality, focus on the current advances and topics in cellular therapy. The rapid growth and interest in the innovative therapeutic options being developed provide opportunities for improving the care and quality of life for patients. Changes in FDA approval and new approaches require specific knowledge and skills to effectively develop and execute these therapies in accordance with current standards of care.

Target audience

This conference is designed for hematologists, pathologists, researchers, technicians and other healthcare professionals interested in the utilization of cellular therapy as a treatment alternative for patients.

Educational Objectives

Through participation in the ISCT North America Regional Meeting, the participants will:

  • Discuss current translational work in immune biology directly related to clinical applications in MSC, UCB, and T-cell cellular therapeutics in hematology and regenerative medicine
  • Review and analyze current pre-clinical and clinical studies focused on enhancing immune reconstitution and graft vs. malignancy effects in patients with hematologic disorders requiring cellular therapy
  • Describe the unique HLA principles that can guide the clinician in allogeneic stemcell graft selection
  • Update knowledge regarding current cell production platforms for cell product expansion
  • Discuss current regulatory guidelines in tissue engineering and cellular combination products

Call for Questions - Ask the Experts Session

The 2011 ISCT/UVA North American Regional Meeting Ask the Expert Session will provide an opportunity for you to pose questions and solicit input from experts in the areas of cellular therapy collection and processing quality assurance, regulations, accreditation and compliance.  The session is designed to elicit interactive discussion in an informal atmosphere.

Inquiries may also be submitted on site or during the session.

Objectives:

  • Review applicable regulations and standards as they apply to cellular therapy
  • Identify available guidance, regulatory, and accreditation resources
  • Develop strategies to address quality, compliance standards and regulations
