Founded in 1996, FACT establishes standards for high quality medical and laboratory practice. FACT is a non-profit organization developed by the International Society for Cellular Therapy (ISCT) and the American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT) for the purposes of voluntary inspection and accreditation in the field of hematopoietic cell therapy. The major objective of FACT is to promote high quality patient care and quality laboratory performance in the belief that a valid accreditation must assess both clinical and laboratory aspects.

FACT Standards for Cellular Therapy Product Collection, Processing and Administration

  • FACT Standards define an infrastructure required for all phases of the safe collection, processing, and administration of hematopoietic cells.
  • FACT Standards require an ongoing assessment of these activities.
  • FACT Standards do not prescribe the use of these therapies.
  • FACT Standards require all clinical, collection and processing facilities to evaluate and report clinical outcomes.

All accredited programs must have in place a Quality Management Program including quality audits; a system for detecting, evaluating and reporting errors, accidents, and suspected reactions; documentation; review and reporting; and safety. FACT is a non-profit voluntary foundation for standard-setting, self-assessment, inspection and accreditation in all phases of hematopoietic collection, processing and transplantation. It is jointly sponsored by ASBMT and the International Society for Cellular Therapy (ISCT).
